Nabataea by Nemo-the-Everbeing Nabataea by Nemo-the-Everbeing
Because everyone seems to like "The Lonely God", I thought I'd post a few more from that series, which I called "Scenes that Never Happened." Basically, I wanted to create images around which scenes could be built (and a few of them I did indeed take and build a story around later). These were all done with ink and marker and then touched up in Photoshop.

You know, somehow I can't imagine any of the later regenerations of the Doctor wearing such a thing...Which would actually be great to see.

We once saw Four in one. He looked great in it.

Well, he seemed to have gotten his own personal style(s) somewhere along the first bit of his exile, but fresh out of Gallifrey he would have dressed the way he always had: badass robery.

It would be fun to try other Doctors in robes, although I'd probably do a costume swap first (because of the fun!)

I think perhaps the new series' doctor wouldn't want to wear the robes simply because of the memories they would bring back....That would have to be incredibly tough. Although by now, the 10th or 11th doctor probably would be willing to wear them again. Nine would be less likely just because the grief would still be far too fresh...

And a costume swap would be freaking amazing. I imagine a Five and Ten swap could be quite amusing.

I've been working on the complete list of swaps, which is getting fun. The goal was that sometimes the Doctors' personalities didn't accurately match their costumes, or could be just as well matched elsewhere. There were, of course, problems, because Six and Seven really got screwed in the costume department, to the point that I couldn't imagine ANYONE enjoying that outfit, but I think I've worked it out. I have no idea when such sketches would be hitting this site, but they're on the burner at low heat right now.

LOL. Yeah. Some of those costumes were pretty hideous....At least they're a source of amusement, if nothing else. =D

Thanks very much! For some reason, I just love putting One in robes. He never wore them in the series, and I really do like his series getup, but there's something about the robes that's too good to pass up.

I know, i's awesome! But I suppose Galifrey wasn't even named much less defined all that well until at least the third Doctor, Susan mentions it once and that's it!

Gallifrey and the Time Lords first got a bit of specification in "War Games", the last of the Second Doctor adventures. It's the first time we find out what the Doctor is, where he comes from and what Gallifreyan society is like.

I thought the planet wasn't actually named until the thrid Doctor though...oh well what do I know...I get all my Gallifrey know how from the internet. There's this great site called 'Rassilon, Omega and that other guy' which has just about anyhting you could possibly want to know about Gallifrey in it. There's even the laws of time, it's pretty funny scrolling through them going "Yep, he's broken that one, that one, that one half a dosen times"

I'm almost certain it was in the last Second Doctor adventure (they go to Gallifrey, so I can't imagine it wasn't actually mentioned by name). They might consider it Third, as it was very late in that adventure that this all went down, and it's very frequently mentioned in the Third Doctor's adventures, as he's in exile to earth from there.

That's brilliant! 1st Doctor in the regalia, going to another ancient Earth civilization, awesome concept.

And props on your Sapphire and Steel icon.

Had to work hard to get my icon, so I'm very proud of it! And thank you for your comments. I'm a little obsessed with Nabataea, so setting them there just made sense when I had to visualize a long-gone civilization.

Is that Susan and the First Doctor? I've never seen that Doctor in the Gallifryian robes. Great job. :)

It is indeed. He only appeared one in the robes, and that was in the Tom Baker episode "The Deadly Assassin" (only classic episode to not feature a companion). These robes, then, are based on that older design, rather than the one featured in the new series (which is lovely, as well, but I'm going for something a little more old-school).
